TALES FROM THE CITIES.

  The woman on the ZOOM Call shouted on seeing the maid, her Aunt had brought. Mrs.  Peters said: ’Auntie! I said bring me someone that will help me in the house, not a second wife for my husband!’ The older woman at the other end of the ZOOM Call laughed nervously. Mr.  Peters poked his head from the corner of the screen and replied ‘Honey, you know you are the only one for me, and there’s no other.’ The white man said. Meanwhile the subject of the discussion looked on, not knowing why everyone was laughing until the older woman explained in their native dialect, that her relative was not comfortable with her being in the same house due to her physical endowments. Ekemini tried to assure the woman in the screen ‘Ma, I can do any house work.’ Her voice betraying her fear at losing the opportunity to escape the city. ‘Ekemini, go bath, eat and rest, we will talk later.’ Auntie Rose said to the teary eyed voluptuous woman. The people on the line of the queue looked on in silence, as the celebrant barked at the woman on the line ‘serves her right, she was on the line before and she came again for a second round, when others have not eaten.’ Was the consensus amongst the witnesses of the brutal put-down by the retired Judge…Matilda and Nelson, her husband, profusely apologized but the tongue lashing continued and was only stopped when the Judge’s wife intervened ‘my dear, please let people eat food, it was prepared for them.’ The woman said pleading on behalf of Matilda and her husband, and any future victim of the Judge’s legendary no-nonsense approach to life, being a strict disciplinarian and what not. While no one dared stand up to the moneybag, they murmured amongst themselves ‘All because he has money O.’ Samson whispered in his wife’s ear, who promptly replied ‘Toh, what can one do.’ Her reply coming from a place of hunger and disinterest. I have been away for a while, actually I have been on a much need leave of absence. The pandemic has put untold strain on everyone's lives, mine included and I needed the rest. I also used the leave of absence, to read up on novels such H. P. Lovecraft' s works and that of other literary personalities in order to improve on my writing. I hope to serve you better, with more improved tales, and in honor of the giant of thrillers and suspense, I name the 2021 Collection of short and long stories as... "LOVECRAFT EROTICA"
